So I’ve been playing the crap out of Ninja Gaiden for the Wii Virtual Console and I just wanted to take a second to clarify the correct pronunciation of the title. And to think, after all these years I’ve been saying it wrong. This revelation does not, however, make those damned birds any less annoying. Say it with me now…
I just want to add another name often mispronounced: Ryu. It’s pronounced “Ree-you”, not “Rye-you”. I was guilty of this, too, when I was younger, but I thought I would clarify.

I’d also like to point out that in one of the many Street Fighter II versions, “Balrog” is pronounced “Barlog”. I’m sure someone will chime in and tell me that it’s The Hyper Turbo Ultra Mega Street Fighter Bravo II version. Anyhow, since this precident has been set by the game voice, I think that it’s alright to call him Barlog from now on. Man Law?

I remember that! I wonder how it really was supposed to go, since the Japanese have trouble with Rs and Ls, often mixing the two up. Also, as any Street Fighter fan would tell you, Balrog (Barlog) is actually Vega in Japan, Balrog is M. Bison, and M. Bison is Vega. All of this name swapping because of the whole Mike Tyson thing and not wanting to get sued. Oh yeah, and Akuma is Gouki. Why they changed that name, I don’t know. It’s all a conspiracy!
